I have a buddy who wants me to buy a 357 conversion for my 50 AE. That's so he can shoot it. He won't shoot my 50. I told him he could buy me a 50 AE 10" barrel and I will show him an instantly tamed down 50. Does anyone have experience with the 357 in a Desert Eagle? Tell us what it was like for you. Thanks and Be Well, Rustyzipper.

Nope. But the 50 ain’t that bad for recoil IMO. Less than some 44’s

I’ve shot several, most were unreliable.

Never shot one. But, former neighbor asked me to get his "unstuck" once.
Guess I'll never know how it shot. He died a few weeks ago.

I don't think i'd waste the money on a 357mag conversion. I've thought about getting the 44mag conversion but not even sure it's worth it.

With the 357 magnum conversion , in addition to having to get the barrel and magazine you’ll have to get the bolt also ( due to the head diameter difference - if the base / donor Desert Eagle is a 50 AE ) …
I get to shoot an Eagle in 50 AE ( 6 inch ) , 429 DE ( 6 inch ) and the 44 mag ( 6 inch and the 10 inch barrels ) . The 44 mag w/ the 10 “ barrel is a pussy cat to shoot …. The 44 mag w/ the 6 “ barrel is very smooth .
The 50 AE and the 429 DE are thumpers for sure but not un-manageable unless age and physical limitations are to be a concern .
I was told by factory representatives at the NRA convention ( 2019 Indianapolis ) that they are not making any of the 10 or 14 inch barrels anymore due to old / tired / worn out tooling , so any that you find on fleabay , Gunbroker , GA , etc will be going for a premium .
I never shot a 357 Eagle , but I’m thinking it will be ultra-smooth and recoil will be non-existent . .

The 50 is truly a smooth shooter. A great blaster. My buddy is a big man and a sissy as a shooter. Wouldn't shoot my 458 SOCOM and it is a pussycat! I want to spend my money on a 10" 50 so that is what I'm doing. Unless a 14" comes around. Thanks for your ideas and be Well, Rustyzipper.
