Seems to be a problem with the definition of sidekick.
For reference...Andy Clyde who too over as one of Hoppy's sidekicks when Windy, George Hayes, went elsewhere.
Clyde did physical comedy, the loose board in front of the dry goods store, but Gabby is always a tough act to follow.
