Does anyone know if Speer uses a standard 24" barrel for the 7.62x39 data?

In the #13 manual , they use a Ruger 77 MKII with 22" barrel; don't know about newer Speer books.

Hmmm. That sounds like a good beginning for a multi-page campfire discussion. What hurts more, being shot with a short barreled 7.62x39, or a longer barreled one?

Graphs, pressure test data, medical docs, etc. to make your point(s).

First thing comes to mind is they don’t hurt if they don’t hit ya. Thousands tried, many died and never got more than a few scratches.

So you're on the fence wrt pain vs barrel length then. Fair enough.

There seemed to be an direct correlation, more is more, that kind of thing. Long barreled machine guns seemed be more hurtful more often. Sight radius?

Absolutely.

Like sex, there is a direct proportionality. In this case, the longer the barrel, the more intense the pain.

As a corallary, I'd like to know at what point the 7.62x39 bounces off. You keep hearing about it being ineffective on deer-sized targets. Is it shorter than 18"? Longer than 24"?

See the little AP core on the right? It couldn't get past my boot heel from about 50 meters.

Hope that helps.

To be clear, are we talking about the pok-er, or the pok-ee?

I have to be honest, my grandson has done good work on a couple of whitetail bucks with the little commie cartridge, but they were barefoot.
