Just got a t1x in 17 hmr and out of 25 rounds shooting hornady vmax 17gr I have had 6 light strikes. Sometimes they are back to back rounds but always fire the second time. Anyone else having this issue? I love the rifle but the light strikes are annoying for such an expensive rifle.

I suppose you could have got a bad lot of ammo that did not have the priming compound properly spread. When it is firing on the second time have you removed and re-inserted the cartridge so that the firing pin is striking a different spot on the rim, or are you saying that it fires when hitting the same spot on the rim for the second time.

You could try a different lot of the Hornady V-Max and see if the issue is still there, that would pretty well narrow it down to either the ammo or the rifle. If it is the rifle call Beretta and firmly but nicely insist on a pre-paid return label to have the rifle repaired.

Just my opinion but the T1X is not what I consider an expensive rifle, actually it is towards the lower end of cost for most rimfire rifles anymore.

Drover,

I have done both pulling the round out and re inserting so it struck in a different spot and also just lifting the bolt enough to re cock the trigger. Both ways fired just fine the second time. I hope its the ammo but Dang I have 400 rounds of the same lot. Wish I saved the brass to compare the two different strikes. Guess I'll shoot it tomorrow and see how it looks.

Did you ever find the problem with your rifle? I have a T1X in 17hmr I put probably 100 rounds thru yesterday and had 10-15 misfires. On most of them I would re-cock the bolt and pull the trigger again and it still wouldn’t go bang. I tried 2 or 3 different ammunition types and had problems with all of them. Winchester being the worst.

Can you disassemble bolt? Clean? Next could be a weak or damaged spring?

When mine did it, one of the screws for the scope base was to long. Remove the bolt and look to see if any of those are messing with the bolt.

The rimfire T1x is a far different animal than say a T3x.

I never did figure it out. I'm going to check and see what the poster said about the base screws.

I have both .22lr and .17HMR. Never had an issue with either. I've used Hornady .17gr Vmax ammo exclusively in my HMR though.
The .22lr I've shot quite a few different brands. SK, Eley, Lapua, Norma, American Eagle and Blaser. It comes damn close to hanging with my Chesebro Anschutz. I ordered a KRG Bravo for it and need to adjust the trigger. Might give it a run for it's money after a little tinkering.

Very strange, I’d suggest taking the bolt apart as much as possible and cleaning/degreasing.
