My father drew a 2020 Maine Bull Moose tag yesterday. Needless to say he is one excited old man. I am his sub-permittee and look forward to sharing a once in a lifetime hunt with the man that introduced me to the outdoors. Now the planning and preparation begins.

Congradulations. My brother drew a October bull last year I seconded on.
I drew a zone 4 September bull this year so we have some meat to eat by then!
Good luck.

Congrats on that tag.

Now get one for some of the tastiest meat I've ever tried. Never hunted one myself, but friends "donated" me some.

Congrats! Totally happy for you and your dad!

By BIL and I have been trying for 20 years now to get drawn, without success, But we are both out of staters and the chances are only about 1% of getting drawn. He's got 80 preference points though - one of these years!

Appreciate the positive comments. Shared them with my father and he wanted to say “thanks”. We selected an outfitter and booked our hunt. Will be hunting unit 1 during the opening week of the moose season. Our hunt will take place out of a spike camp located in the northern most part of the unit. My father will use his NULA 30-06 and I plan to carry my 375 H&H.

Great area. I will be self guided south of you that week near Alagash lake. Last year we shot a 650# dressed 3 year old at 8:00 opening morning zone 5, still hunting. I will probably use my 375 Ruger Alaskan in a McMillan again.
300 partitions with H4831 dropped in about a foot to fit.

Good luck. Be ready for bugs or rain or snow. With luck none of the above and perfect Indian Summer weather.

That's great news, esp with your father. Once in a lifetime is right!

My daughter and I both apply. We are allowed two guns on a tag here. If either of us get drawn, she will be the shooter and then she gets passed the knife. smile

Congratulations to dad and you ! Back in 2013, my dad( 80 years old then) got drawn for an area 1 bull tag. We saw over 40 moose and he got his bull Thursday am. Ditto on the small game tag as the grouse were as thick as pigeons in a city park. Great hunt , great eating and great memories. I have been applying for 15 years and still waiting. This year only applied for points as we are heading to WY to hunt antelope. Take a lot of pictures.

Congrats and good luck. Zones 1 and 4 are great zones with some very nice bulls. Don't shoot the first one you see unless he is a Beast!

Great zone. Congratulations
