Hello all. I'm big into old-model Rugers and need some pricing help. I've found 3 of them locally, that I need some value info on.Have found 1 in 30-06, 1 in 7x57, and 1 in 257 Roberts.Excellent bluing and pretty good woodon first two. Pretty good wood, rough looking barrel on 257.........worn bluing. Any Ideas on value of these?

I paid $375 at a gun show in TX for a Ruger M77 .30-06 last November. The rifle was in great shape, no scratches in the blueing under the slide safety. Most used Rugers had much higher prices, some ridiculously high IMHO.

Recently purchased a Ruger 77 MKII 6.5x55 walnut/blue without factory rings for $400.00 in very good shape. Metal was at 100% and it had 2 very small dings in the wood which you had to look closely for them. I've seen new MKII's on gunbroker for $449.00 so you have to decide what's a fair price and what you want to pay. I paid $589.00 for my Hawkeye 358 Win which again on gunbroker are at $542.00 plus shipping. Ken

I can get the 30-06 for 300, the 7x57 for 350.......the 257 is priced at 500, have try dosome dealing on it. Feel I need atleast 2 of these guns!

Might as well get all three! I have a Ruger M77 .257 Roberts and it is my favorite rifle. Bought it used in January 2004 for $400. It came wit a Leupold M8 4x in the rings and was in pristine condition - like the .30-06 I got last November, no marks in the bluing under the slide safety.

The seller needed a more powerful rifle. The Roberts has shot a 3-shot 0.232" group with the 4.5-24 Leo I put on it. I LOVE magnumitis!!!

Missed the "rough barrel" on the .257. I'd stay away from that one, and $500 is too much for it anyway, even in good condition. Thought you might be able to negotiate better prices if getting all three. So much for thinking...

Oh,well, that still leaves the .30-06 and 7x57...

Rugers are nice rifles and the '06 and 7x57 sound like very good deals. I would stay clear of the 257 at that price with a rough barrel. You can find one with a nice barrel for the same money or less if you look a little.

new hawkeyes around my area are 547.00. i bought a new mk2 for 450.00, blue/wood.

I just picked up a MkII 6.5x55 in virtually new shape for $475. It has a Simmons 4x12 which works correctly, but I find it valueless. I wanted a 6.5x55 and paid up for it.

I really like the tang safety 77s much better. I only have one right now, a 30-06 I purchased new in 1976. The factory trigger is adjusted crisp as glass at 3lbs. Ruger did have some barrel problems years ago, but I guess we take our chances.

I would pay $300 in a heart beat for a nice one. It appears to me that the prices on the tang safety rifles (particularly pre-warning)are starting to inch up.

If you look around you can get tang safties for around $400.00. Sounds like you have found a good buy, but stay away from the 257. To much money for a gun in that condition. I have noticed that since this spring prices have been going up on the tang safteys.

If you must have 2, then the .30-06 and 7x57 sound like the best deals. It probably makes sense to get just one of them and the .30-06 is probably the best bet in that scenario, depending on how you feel shooting that cartridge.

I still find some of the 77 MkII rifles new on the racks for $515.00 to $550.00, and used ones in super condition for about $500 with really good scopes on them.

I agree with everyone saying pass on the .257 for the stated reasons.
You didn't mention whether any of the 3 have iron sights, around here they bump up the price.
Anyway, the 7x57 is an excellant price and would easily sell for $100. higher around here. Get it!

I bought a 77 MKII in .264 Winchester with a boat paddle stock last year for $225 at the Hardware store in town. They said that shells were hard to come by. The next time I went to Little Rock I bought a box of Winchester and a box of Remington. They were a little pricy but not scarce. miles

Wow! That's a bargain for one very flat shooting catridge.

going to get the 7x57 today, can pick it up for 350. Know it's a good shooter because I used to own it.......traded it away in a stupid moment. Maybe the 30-06 next payday, believe can get it for 300. Many MKII's around, but I like the old tang safety models much better.
