I was talking to a guy at church yesterday that is looking for a particular type of holster. He has an fn x 45 auto. The holster he wants is a behind the back and the pistol lays parallel with his belt. Is there such a holster?

Talk him out of it. It's a bad design in my opinion. It's uncomfortable to sit with your back to a chair or seat, if you get knocked down your spine will take that chunk of metal grinding on it, it's slow for you to draw from but fast for anyone else that gets their hand on the gun.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

SOB holster works good on TV, really wouldn't want to see any unsightly bumps on Kensi Blye would we? Or need any lumps on those curves right? See SOB does have use. MB

The only people who use those holsters are people who are poorly trained, and/or poorly educated. Not one single truly professional gun carrier I have known in 30 years of carrying a gun for a living has ever used one or recommended one. They are a spine injury waiting to happen, not to mention that they have no benefits in regards to draw speed or retention in a fight.

SOB holsters conceal very well, but try sitting in a car seat with one on. Painful.

So, while we are talking people out of SOB, what should we be talking them into? For concealing a full size or nearly full size pistol.

So, while we are talking people out of SOB, what should we be talking them into? For concealing a full size or nearly full size pistol. El Paso Saddlery C-Force IWB carried at 4:00 on a proper gun belt. That's my model 26, but it also works with my Model 19 and 17, or the .40 S&W versions of same. This one was actually made for the 17.

I like the Simply Rugged Pancakes. You can wear them either side, inside the belt (with accessory straps) or outside, or tanker-style with the harness they also offer.
Crossdeaw is a no-no according to some, but it's the hot setup in the car. Also, wearing behind the hip every day starts my poor old back to aching after a time, and crossdraw gives it a break. You can also draw with either hand from a crossdraw holster.
Options are good, especially if one holster gives them to you.
What fresh Hell is this?

An sob holster can only be made worse by orienting it parallel to the beltline. Most instructors have prohibited them in classes for years.

Something else that has not been mentioned is that in a down-'n-dirty situation, you pull that handgun out of that SOB holster and unless you are extremely careful, you'll sweep your hip or leg. Not what you'd call a wise idea. FWIW. L.W.

I like High Noon Holsters for IWB. They have several different, similar designs. SOB holsters are also not for anyone with arthritis in the shoulders. You'll never reach that far back.
