I have had only two failures, a M98 extractor and a P64 M70 trigger. Both broke apart.
Still today I would go M98 or a Tikka, the Canadian Rangers choice.

Im glad i bought another Tikka lite stainless the other day. They are heads and shoulders above other push feed rifles.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Something stainless and synthetic. My Weatherby Vanguard 2 would be my choice as of now. Accurate, and fairly weatherproof and low maintenance.

Skeleton stock stainless Ruger M77 would be hard to beat. Probably, but man those things are hard on the eyes!

Bullchiet, the Beauty of the Ruger Model 77 is the Simplicity of the trigger design, some of you guys need to learn how to work on these f****** rifles.

I'd feel no hardship with my Tangers, either. I've worked both factory triggers to 3 and 3 1/2 lbs respectively.
And I'll raise you an 03-A3 with Timney trigger.
My walkabout carry rifle is my Dad's 1927 mnfd. '94 in 30-30. In 55 years of my use, never a problem....
But nothing to my mind is more reliable than a '98.

What would be the go to rifle if you were hunting in a remote place and had only one rifle. Im talking about brand and model not cal . I don't mean to be smart at all. I've been hunting deer and 'whatever' since 1974....46 yrs. OOPS! SO FAR I have not had an UNreliable rifle. IF I had, I would not have kept it. Win 94, 70s, Rem 700s, Weatherby (1), Howa s, Ruger 77s, Tikka s, Savage 99 s ?maybe 1 or 2 other brands I can't remember. FMD..... Fading Memory Disorder. Exit add : BBR & BLRs I miss spoke, it was 1972 for deer ---> so 48 yrs. FMD again.

My SS M70 FW All Terrain '06 is the one I consider most reliable. Only because I have had it for over 25 years with no problems and use it more than any other rifle I own except my 10/22. Horseback, bicycle, coastal salt mist, freezing rain, high desert dust, It worked in all of it.
The SS All Terrain Rugers have never bobbled, Neither have any of my Model 98's. For that matter both my Kimbers have always worked. There aren't many bad ones.
Model 70's in general are very reliable. I did have one safety get awfully hard to work after a reblue job and a.338 fail to feed after Irestocked it. Both user induced problems though.
I have had extractors break on 700 Remingtons and on an early 110 Savage and I have seen a couple of Model 700's with so much gunk inside the bolt they wouldn't work.

Out my safe, the tikka as well.
Saw someone mention cz 527, that’s the one I trust the least
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

The only rifle I ever owned that let me down in the field was a Mauser '98. The trigger was adjusted to a point where it ceased cocking so my fallow hunt was interrupted. The rifle was made by John Rigby and Son and chambered in .275 Rigby. Should have taken taken the Model 70 Featherweight with me..........Push feed of course.

Whatever I could get my mits on, doesn't really matter. A clean, well maintained rifle fed good ammunition is far more reliable than most operators.....
