Well, I couldn't help it. I shot it.. Got it to build something else with but just couldn't stand not seeing what it would do.. I saw the barrel channel was a little tight, pulled the stock, sanded it out so it'd accept a dollar bill folded in half all the way to the recoil lug, adjusted the trigger down to 2 1/2 lbs, resealed the channel with a few coats of poly and did a node test to see where it fell out with 180 Sciroccos.. 3350 seemed pretty good and the load was basically outta the Nosler book with RL25. Used CCI 250's and RP cases. I just stuck a Leupold 6x36 with dots on it in Warne MountainTech rings. It was about the only scope I had that would work between that long sucker. So I don't know what to do with it now, but man, it feeds those stupid RUM cases really well and it seems to shoot okay as well. Might have to take a year and hunt it, get back to it next year...

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
Ain’t easy havin pals.

That might tip over an elk!
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

I was planning on sending it to Weaver to lengthen it out so I could fit 3.8” in the magazine and screw on the Krieger 2 contour 1-8 I have sitting in the basement, all nestled into a Legend.
I’m good with it as it sits though. Pretty sure a Legend will drop at least a pound, if not a pound and a half if I get where I really wanna carry it more.
It’s kinda growing on me a little though.

Sounds like a hell of a nice build Big B, I've heard good things about Weaver, that said, either way you go you've got a winner there, just wish I'd had another 200 rounds of that good RP 300 RUM brass to sell you.

No worries Gunner. It’ll take me awhile to use up what you sent me the first time around. Photos don't work for me. I’ll check them out and see if I can figure it out.

My favorite/main hunting rifle.is a 70 classic in 300 rum in a Legend edge stock. I absolutely love that gun. Tell me about this 3.8" mod?

That rarely works for me to buy something as a doner, then get attached to it. I did that with a Model 721 Remington .30-06 I bought with the intention of using it for a doner. I got attached to the old girl and now I have another .30-06 and still haven't done my project.

Sunny Hill make a 3.8" bottom metal unit that I was looking at. I called Kevin Weaver and asked if it was possible to lengthen out the M70 to accept the 3.8" BM. I was pretty keen on using this rifle for the project, but it is hammering the Swifts pretty well, so I may just leave it alone.
