Rifle will be used for mostly elk hunting. I have a bunch of 130 etips and some 140 accubonds. What loads have worked well for you guys?

140gr Accubond

57 or 59gr H4831
Winchester brass
CCI 200 primer.

57gr is just very accurate in everything I've tried it in. It's the wife and kids load. I shoot 59 to get it up to 3k.

I don't know about etips, but if a 270 won't shoot a "regular" 130 on top of 55 grains of IMR 4350 it's probably sick.

I have found that H4831SC and a 150 NPT has been very accurate in anything 270 Winchester it's a hammer on deer but can damage a lot of food. I am sure the 150 NPT would be an extremely good choice for elk at any reasonable distance. I tried quite a few powders with various 130's and really like VV N560, H4831 is a close second. H1000 and RL22 are great choices as well. There's a host of powders and bullets that will shoot well from the old 270. Good luck with your new rig I hope that Barrett Fieldcraft works out well for you. An old timer I once new who has since gone home that really loved the 270 win and reloaded for years with it always said CCI 250's were the most consistent primer he used.

Good luck and shoot straight y'all

I just started working with 1:9 270 Fieldcraft. 129 LRX, 140 Accubond and 150 Accubond Long Range with RE23 and RE26. It shoots everything so far very well - 1 MOA or better. I haven't settled on a favorite load yet but it's been very consistent with everything tried.

This is the load I use for my daughter's 270 Win. with 130 TTSX's! This load has shot ANY 129-130gr. bullet under MOA!
If you decide to go heavier than 130gr., many are having great results with RL-26.

I just ordered a couple boxes of .277 165 gr Accubond Long Range from SPS (didn't know they even existed until now) and am hoping they will work with RE26 in the 1:9 Fieldcraft...

I got stellar accuracy out of a 130 E-tip combo and R-16. Not the velocity that Alliant claimed before I hit pressure, but 1/4" groups with a hunting rifle seems almost absurd.
