Police said anyone seeking to leave the area without getting arrested could do so through the south end of the zone, toward Pike Street. That's pretty stupid right there.

This is pretty simple calculus for them. The bad press outweighed the good press. As soon as black people started getting shot in there by other blacks or commies, they had no choice. Plus the outside chance of bikers showing up on the 4th was a no win scenario for them.

I don't know too much about her, but she did come up through the ranks of Seattle PD, 28 years. Don’t know if it’s good or bad, but she wasn’t a finalist. McLay, Frizell and Reyes were the top three selected to go under review for the position. The “Community leaders” had a problem with her not making the cut. Seattle Times Article
