Best thing I have found to do is wet the area and rub some baking soda in with wet fingers. Even works to a degree with scorpion stings.

I use baking soda for a few minutes then wash it off and apply Tec Labs CalaGel. Works for poison ivy/poison oak, etc.

That's a good home remedy. If at all possible, I prefer PROPER immediate action OVER waiting for the "professionals" to intervene. You'd be surprised how little they can do that is not available to joe average. By the time you get to a hospital, wade through the paper work, insurance questions, evaluation, hopefully you will end up with a dr that knows straight up from straight down. NOW IT HAS TURNED INTO AN EMERGENCY! That doesn't mean that an antihistamine or epinephrine would be bad advice. Everyone and every situation is different. That said, I've seen, what a physician may call clinical evidence. Immediate proper intervention usually trumps waiting ling periods of time so someone else can intervene.
Baking soda is what mom always used when I stepped on honey bees as a barefoot little boy. Worked for me then and a time or two since. There's another... charcoal will draw toxins too. There's lots of herbal remedies in most locals just laying around in the yard. One you may be familiar with is Plantain. It has a large range. It's edible AND medicinal. Use it as a poltuce. Chew it and slap it in place.

Stepped on a few bees as a kid barefoot. Wet mud sucks the fire out of a bee sting quickly. Then back to the house for hydrogen peroxide or the like to clean the mud out.

Crush a papaya tablet, and wet the powder. Apply to the sting within the first 3-4 minutes, and the sting is instantly gone. Works on bee, wasp, and scorpion stings. Still looking for a volunteer to test it on rattlesnake. Pacific islanders use papaya slices on people who have stepped on stonefish.
Be not weary in well doing.

I'amma reaching for some Seafoam. How does it taste? I'd rather reach for whiskey. Seriously, have you used it on a sting before.

I carry that in my truck.

That's another good one similar to baking soda and activated charcoal. The mud likely contained clay...does the same thing. Good thinking! It adsorbs many toxins. Literally saved my life once having what we're talking about on hand.

True. That's what a lot of emergency rooms use. Over the counter isn't 5 grand last I checked. Its a sin to charge so much. I hate emergency rooms.

I've got a big divot in my calf muscle from not seeking medical attention for a brown recluse bite I didn't know any better at the time and let it go and let it go and it destroyed muscle tissue in my leg. I won't ever try to treat myself if that ever happens again My own doctor told me it's as bad as a snake bite. Them and black widows

I use baking soda for a few minutes then wash it off and apply Tec Labs CalaGel. Works for poison ivy/poison oak, etc. For poison oak or ivy, just wash it off with alcohol. Those little wipes work but you might need a lot of them. I have some larger ones but with covid they're hard to get right now.
