Chicago is going to break last years record.
Minneapolis crime was up 70% in 2019
and its on pace to break that number this year in murders.
Its not just New York
we are at a time where defunding the police is going to lead to potentially irreversible consequences in these major cities. The police didn't have enough resources now as it is.
And blacks will bear the brunt of this as a result.
BLM is a self defeating movement.

Real Estate values in upstate (Mid-Hudson Valley) NY is going thru the roof due to NYC refugees. I have a buddy who is an appraiser and he heard of one interested party offering someone, who had put a binder on a house that he wanted, $50,000 to back away from the deal. They party who had the binder took the money. My brother and his wife have 20 acres in Orange County, been talking for years about moving to Florida where she grew up. I'll give him a call, see what's up.

Most of us are old enough to remember when NYC was seen by the rest of the country as a giant and dangerous slum with prostitutes and XXX rated theatres in Times Square instead of the giant family friendly theme park vacation destination it became over the last 30 years. It would seem that all it took was one idiot mayor to take it back to the bad old days.

I think you will see an emptying out of most central cities, and it may be permanent. Covid has convinced a lot of big employers that their people don't have to come to a central office every day and a lot of people are starting to realize they don't have to pay $5000 a month to rent a hamster cage. Also these cities are now becoming hazardous to your health. The crime wave is happening because the perpetrators know they won't be put in jail for theft, due to COVID.
