We've been waiting on our tax refund for 6 months now & I'm wondering if anyone else has ever experienced such a long wait? We typically get it back within 4-6 weeks, but not this year. We pay a very qualified CPA to prepare our taxes, so I'm not concerned about an audit. Starting to wonder what the hell... I could sure put that money to better use than the government can/does. Any idea what would cause such a delay?

I can't begin to imagine what would delay anything. Seems everything is running normal in the nation.

I would be concerned about fraud. Someone else filing for your refund.

Interesting as I was thinking about it today as the the tax extensions is ending soon.
My case is the opposite. I mailed both my Federal with a check for amount owed as well as my state taxes on April 17.

I just received a refund from the state but the Feds have not cashed my check.
In normal years the check is cashed with in a week of me sending it so I'm wondering if it got lost in the mail.

Waiting on ours for months too. There is a link on the IRS website where you can supposedly check the status of a refund, but it seems to be useless.

I was also thinking that I haven't received my refund yet either. Not expecting a big amount, I don't like to loan money to the Feds interest free.

One of the lines in the Governments “Covid 19 relief bill” was an automatic 3 month extension on the income tax deadline.
From April 15 to July 15.
That also held up most returns for 3 months.
Or so I’ve been told.

At least you guys are getting refunds.

I took out my pension (commuted value) last year and not income tax was taken off. I got a tax bill for $40,000. Fortunately my doctor and I had been working on obtaining tax relief for being partially handicapped. Finally, all the nerve pain, loss of left leg strength and other medical issues caused by cauda equina syndrome as a result of a back injury, two back surgeries, two foot surgeries pays off. I am able to claim partial handicap back to 2014. That gave me a credit of $16,000. Sure wish I could have been credited back to 2005. Actually I wish I had never been injured, period.

Anyways a tax bill of $24,000 is much better than $40,000.

Still waiting here, too. First refund in years and their people are all at home sitting on their couches.

E-filed by CPA. Last week, he said, "Be patient."

I spoke to my Congressmans office because I could not get any information about my refund from IRS website. They did some checking and said that all paper filed returns needed to be handled by people and due to the Covid19 the paper returns have been in storage since the 1st of April and are just now being pulled out and processed. That is what has evidently delayed my refund.

If you E-Filed those have been processed much quicker, I was told.

I E-filed and my payment was missing from my checking account two days later. The IRS is very prompt when it goes their way.

I was pleasantly shocked and surprised when our CPA said look at this as I was fully expecting to write checks after selling a couple of rental properties.
