I have a .224 Valkyrie and was thinking I would rather have a .22 nosler since the bolt face is the same can I just replace the Valkyrie barrel with a nosler barrel?

Bolt face is different.. 22 nosler takes the standard 223/5.56 bolt. So you need 5.56 bolt and 22 nosler barrel. I thought about rebarreling a 223 Wylde to a 22 nosler but i heard not so great things about the brass..

It's my understanding that the Nosler has some issues getting accurate but the valkyrie can get accurate quicker. I don't know if it's the load, barrel or design. Check out Johnnies reloading on youtube. He has been working on this.

Both swear the brass sucks, glad I didn’t try it.

I'm doing a Yote hunt in MT this winter and was just kicking around ideas. I want to take an AR out along with my bolt .220 swift. Something that shoots 65-75 grain bullets for real windy days. I also have a .450 Bushmaster. Are their any other caliber barrels that are compatible with the Valkyrie BCG or the Bushmaster BCG? I'm still new to the AR Platform stuff. I'd love a .243 AR but they are expensive...

But the 224 Valkyrie I built for my daughter has an ARP barrel on it. It’s so damn good I ordered another.

LOL actually nothing. I took it to the range today just for fun. Man it shoots good with factory 75 FMJ Hornadys. It has a 18" barrel a little shorter than I would like for yotes. I'm thinking of working up a 62-65 grain varmit load for coyotes. Most of our shots will be from 200 and in with a rare shot out to 300 but definitely not the norm.

I am thinking about re-barreling an upper I won. The problem with the barrel on the upper, is it's a 1:9 twist 5:56, and I want something I can shoot a little heavier bullet out of.

Have you tried heavy in the 9? Buddy of mine shoots 80s out of 9s on purpose. Warm loads. 223 chamber. He has done it for years.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
