That's interesting.
Hopefully it doesn't have a full load of aviation fuel and weapons. Not sure if it's in mothballs or not. Toured it as a kid in Scouts many many years ago. Old diesel flatop I believe.

The name is historic, but the last CV flattop of that name was retired.
This is a newer ship, not sure of the type, carries helicopters?

Being an amphibious assault ship, it probably would carry whatever rotary wing the Marine Corps uses, plus landing craft.

Just last night was reading a chapter in a book I picked up about AD Skyraiders in action during the Korean War...
The Chapter I was reading was about Skyraider Units flying off the Bonhomme Richard in Korea..
If it is the one that served in Korea, I hope they save it... if it is a newer carrier, still hope they can save it and put it back into service.,,,,Prayer for any sailors and their families, if anyone was hurt or worse...

I spent 25 years in the USN and was on 2 ships that had fires and one that had a boiler explosion. This is a very dangerous situation and has nothing to do with politics. This post makes you look really foolish.
