Every third can you are guaranteed a tree frog
Just tell her it's a chunk of bacon for flavor you put in it, getting all creative and schitt. Or maybe say its a pickle????
Nana voice:
" Oh my ... that probably is the darndest thing ever, let me try it" "How did you ever think of that" ???
Picked first tomato last week sometime, have picked a couple dozen since. First BLT of the year last night, bacon supplies are getting ready to crash as my tomato harvest goes up....Wife wanted to know why I planted 50 plants. To have the choice of the perfect tomato for every BLT I make is why.
Picked a few dozen yellow squash so far, people already starting to lock their car doors to keep from getting more.
Gave my sister 3 lbs of small cucumbers so she could make a 1/2 batch of lime pickles. Been eating some others fresh for myself.
My tame blackberries are just starting to do their thing. Picked enough for a pie on Saturday. Probably have enough for a couple of pies tonight.
My visual appeal might be lacking, but it all sure tastes good.
BLT, plus onion, pickle, and American cheese and mayo on some seeded bread that the wife buys
Just finished picking almost 7 gallons of blackberries for the market this morning. This is what keeps me busy.
Do you know what variety of blackberries yours are? Most of mine are Triple Crown, got as starts from my aunt the year before last, and she got hers from my grandpa in years before that. Kind of fun knowing I've got offspring of my grandpa's berries. He'd given me 6 starts about 10 years ago, before he passed away. I set up that house buyer with a heck of a berry patch, I bet they've done nothing with it since then.
Asparagus and radishes did well. Peas and beans came up late and got hammered by deer. The beans are recovering the peas not so much. Froze a few quarts of raspberries and the birds are leaving a few Cherries for me.
If you love someone set them free If they come back no one else liked them Set them free again
Onions, taters & tomatoes doing great, second harvest of lettuce complete, cabbages n broccoli looking better, hot peppers & cucumbers slow out of the gate.

We’ve got a small garden at home and a 1/2 acre plot at a friend’s farm.
Just picked garlic today. Bulbs aren’t huge but we always get good flavour.
We’ve been hit hard with Colorado potato bugs this year. Tried lots of natural sprays (Slavyanka doesn’t want to kill the bees) but little luck. She’s resorted to going along with a bucket and shaking them into it by the handful.
At home, now we have problem with cucumber beetles. Not such an infestation but they attack the blossoms so one bug can do a lot of damage. We haven’t got any cucumbers yet but have a few that are showing promises.
Getting a small bowl for fresh raspberries every day.
Tomato plants are HUGE. Producing well but none ripe yet.

I'm not sure what varieties I have, but there are at least three different ones. One of them has an Indian name, I believe it's either the Apache or Ouachita kind. I have another blackberry patch that I didn't take a pic of as well. They're not a lot of trouble, just the pruning out of the old canes, and tying up the new ones, and that's about it.

Ours is really producing right now. Getting squash, zucchini, three types of peppers, green beans, butter beans, and field peas. I’m likely getting the best yields ever. I guess we got the right amount of rain at the right time. I’ll be digging potatoes this time next week.
