I recently bought a package deal on a Remington 700 and it came with bases, rings, and a scope with white letters saying 4-12x40. There are no other markings anywhere that identify tha manufacturer or place of origin. I don't plan to keep it, but I don't know what it's value would be. Any thoughts as to what it's worth?

It is truly junk. I had one that lasted less than fifty rounds on a 243 Winchester.

I had the same set-up on a package rifle.. I bought the gun just for the action & bolt. I ended up selling that same scope with the rings & bases for $40.00 here on the Board. I believe the scope is made by Bushnell. Hope this helps.

While I believe they are pretty much junk, and always replace them, I know of at least one, a 3X9, that has been in use for a number of years and is still going strong. I was always told they were made by Bushnell. It's not a scope I would want to rely on.

I have had 2 of them and sold both of them immediately . It's worth 40-50 bucks and is a Chinee POS.
