Wake Co. NC is part of the "Berkley east" Research triangle.
I've had to work in that area off and on for almost 40 years and in that time frame its taken a very decided left turn with the universities leading the way. Also to many liberal imports from the north east. My state is going left the same way lots of others have, the small high density urban areas dragging the mostly rural conservative state to the left.
