Have any of you been surprised at your kid’s (young adult) political viewpoint on all the things going on in America right now?

Mine has his head on pretty straight at 30 years old.

nope,not yet,they've been pretty good so far,but I do worry a little about the college atmosphere getting to them.

It is kind of hard when they keep dangling that carrot in front of them.

Not really, both of mine have had an independent streak since very young. Nobody could tell either one much without some really, really sound reasoning. My daughter’s third grade teacher told me I wouldn’t have to worry about that one, she was immune to peer pressure.

Kept me on my toes, both of them, because “because I said so” had no lasting effect...

My son just turned 18. Solid conservative, as are his buddies.

My son gets it...politically he is to the right of John Birch, but then he claims there is no point in voting as a resident of Calif. since the Mexicans became the majority after the failed Gov Scwartzenegger, our last and worst Republican Gov. Infuriates me, I holler, he digs in his heels...now, it's the elephant in the room at family dinners and campouts..neither of us mention it in the interest of family harmony.
I just don't know what can be said.

My daughter doesn't pay much attention to politics and what's going on with the country, my son on the other hand married a trump hating liberal, and now he thinks he has it all figured out, but he has not a clue.

Sadly, my young girls fall for every sob story the Left throws out. They were taught better, but kids are bombarded from every angle on social media with Leftist propaganda. It is driving me crazy trying to get through to them with all the outside noise. The Left is insidious and knows peer pressure is strong among kids. They are being indoctrinated and I hope they will open their eyes as they mature.

I was born in 83 which makes me younger than most here. I turned out more conservative than my republican parents. As did all of my friends. Depends a lot on where you are from and where you go to school etc imho

My kids are only 7 and 9, but they understand that Democrats will take their money and give to people too lazy to work.

Four years of college turned our daughter against anything decent. I no longer recommend college. It’s four years of the worst propaganda imaginable.

When my boys were very very young we play a game called malarkey.

I would make up some nonsense that they would want to be true but they knew it was not.

Something like... One out of every ten chicken eggs has candy in it.

Played it for years and years.

Since then they've been pretty good at being able to spot BS.

The wife and I made it a point to bring our kids up knowing how to survive and make their own way. both son 28 yrs and daughter 25 yrs have married good level headed others and they all are conservatives. now they are converting others their age. HA! when they were young I wondered about both of them , but they have made us proud as hell.

I'm 31, and while I can't say there are more conservatives in my age group, I can assure you that the ones that are conservative are much more hardcore in their beliefs than in older generations. Take that FWIW.

My children are at least as conservative as I am, all four are college graduates, one engineer, one attorney. One PhD and one MS.

My daughter's starting her second year at college. She said she's coming home as much as possible because "everyone that goes there is an idiot liberal"
