Holy sheeit! I just looked out of curiosity and first off see two bricks of CCI Small Pistol primers with a current bid of $290. That's $145 per brick and the auction isn't over. Other auctions show current bids that work out to $100/brick, $127/brick and I haven't made it through the first page.

Small rifle primers are the same, individual bricks of 1000 are being bid up to $150.

Must be limited to small rifle and pistol, large rifle and pistol primers are sitting at normal or almost normal prices with no bids. I tried to sell several bricks of Federal large pistol primers for $25 each at a gunshow in March and didn't sell a one.

Just Try to find small pistol on line at the usual sources, there is zero availability

Today, I received an email from a place where I sometimes buy ammo. Steel cased Tula 9mm for 300.00 per thousand

PSA has LC 5.56 this week for 549.00 per 1000.

Many popular powders are in very short supply.

This evening, the cheapest brass cased 5.56 on Ammoseek is .46 per round. That's 460.00 per thousand plus shipping. Even worse, a search for steel case 5.56 on ammoseek has zero availability.

Criminy, I'm sitting on top of, like, $2.4 million worth of primers, and that's not counting the old 209's...

Yeah, I wish. wink Still, at those prices it sure is tempting to turn $90 into $450 or more. But to paraphrase R. Crumb, primers will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no primers.

Isn't it hard to shipp primers? Hazmat and other regulations about who can ship?

I know someone who has over 200,000 with lots of cci41's and rem 7.5's for ar loads.

That.

LGS sez the same - primers are now the scarcest ammo-related items in the store and very hard to come by for resupplies.. I've got enough on hand to last me a long time - and have no intention of allowing supplies to get low..

Buddy of mine who owns a gun shop is friends with an individual who is head of ammo Distribution for federal. Himself and his team decide who gets what. I asked him about the shortage of primers and he said we make more money selling loaded ammunition then components. The demand is so high for loaded ammo that The sale of primers is limited.

Anyone caught short on primers now only has themselves to blame after all the shortages In years past.Buy like hell when available. II have plenty but I damn sure would not sell as I like to shoot and shoot a lot. I try to have a five year or larger stash at any time .

I think I’m good. But I’m not selling any!

Twas ever thus.... Obviously it's an ammo-sellers' market. They're going with what makes them the most money. Do steakhouses sell raw meat?

Anyone who has allowed themselves to get caught short this time, well you know.....

Still buying them for $3.75 per 100 at local feed store. Has cci and Winchester. Some federal small pistol mag too but I think they were 4.25.

At last glance a couple of months ago I have a comfortable cushion of perhaps ~65k primers (all types, I have a large handgun and rifle caliber footprint)

Brass, more than I will ever use.

The only thing I ever consider rotating out is powder, mostly the stuff I tried and no longer use. Sold 16 lbs of Varget in June that I parlayed into 32 lbs of TAC, which is my powder of choice now for most of my .17/.204/223 rifles.
