Geno, I believe you live in N/E Ca. Have you heard of wolves in Modoc Co? Maybe in northern Butte Co as well? I read this on another forum, so, just thought I'd ask.

Wolves have been spotted in the Mt. Lassen area the last few years. I hunt deer there and two years ago had a female rancher stop and talk to me on an old logging road out in the middle of nowhere. She said, "If you see any wolves please kill those sumbitches. They've been eating my cattle."
I have yet to spot one but they're out there.

Yup they are around. Along with wolverines.
"Maybe we're all happy."
"Go to the sporting goods store. From the files, obtain form 4473. These will contain descriptions of weapons and lists of private ownership."

Adjoining county to Modoc.... Klamath Co., had a verified wolf kill of a large steer last week according to a release by channel 12 KDRV. The infamous OR7 wolf that had a tracking device made a track through Modoc, Siskiyou, Lake. According to news releases, OR7 covered 110 miles in one run in 24 hrs. Three wolves were spotted and briefly followed last year in Siskiyou Co near the Denny Point communication site. The construction helicopter was working on top of Denny Point when the wolves were spotted in broad daylight. Wildlife authorities are not real forthcoming about livestock kills, partly because the taxpayers are paying the livestock owners, so the program is not real popular around here. The deer herds are so badly depleted here now that the wolves probably depend on the livestock. I haven't heard of any elk kills, but if USFW find a wolf killed elk, we would never hear about it.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
