I have owned my share of .22 rifles over the years, hunting guns mostly. I decided maybe I should buy one that put the emphasis on accuracy. Not a match or high-dollar benchrest gun, but something a few notches up from my Nylon 66.i To that end, I purchased a CZ 457 Varmint and topped it with a Nikon 4-12 scope. It is a very nice combination. I have no doubt the rifle will shoot one hole groups at 50 yards. My aging eyes ability to bring that to happen is another matter.

Uncle Alvah: Great looking Rifle and scope set-up there! I am getting the "hots" for one of these new CZ 457's with the "corrected" safety lever/system. Please keep us informed on the accuracy and function of your new rig. Thanks. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

I have three 457s now and absolutely love them... they’re all very accurate and smooth... if they only had a Ruger 10 round magazine they’d be perfect...

Love mine. I have one in .17 and a .22lr barrel. An AO scope would probably tighten that group up a bit more.

UncleAlvah,
My 457 is capable of better accuracy with SOME ammo (have tried several kinds, both match and hollow-point hunting ammo), and got better as I put more rounds through it. But my scope is a 3-15x Vortex with a side-adjustment for parallax, and as somebody mentioned already parallax adjustment would probably help.
I adjusted the factory trigger (which unlike the triggers on the 455 is indeed adjustable) and got it down to a very crisp 2.0 pounds. Dunno if getting it any lighter would help, especially with a medium-heavy rifle. (Mine is also the varmint model.)

Love my 22lr 457. Amazing accuracy, fun to shoot and beautiful to look at. Impressed with CZ.

Very interested in more of everyone's shooting experience with the CZ457. Let's hear what ammo your's likes. Anyone shooting one with a sporter barrel?
Thanks, RS

I'd also like to hear about a sporter weight barrel 457. Already have a Varmint Thumbhole Fluted 455 that I love. Still think about a 457 in more of a sporter configuration. Was gonna keep my eyes open for a used 452, or 455 sporter locally but they must be keepers because I've yet to see one for sale around here. The 457's sure look interesting and I still haven't seen one in person yet. The shop I got my 455 from went under a couple years ago.

OP what ammo? 50 yd target? Nice shooting. 60 yards. I estimated 50 yards poorly, so I'm needing to move the holder closer. That group was with Wolf Match. I'm still in the experimenting stage with ammo. I have Wolf, SK, Fiocchi, and one or two others. The big disappointment was CCI SV which is pretty well regarded by most shooters. I could't keep them under an inch. I only shot one group so it may have been I was just not on my A game. They certainly deserve another go, I bought a brick of them. If still no good the Nylon 66 will eat them up. Be frustrating not getting this ammo figured out. I have a home range but its been too hot last couple weeks. I am also waiting on a spring from YoDave to help matters along. CCI SV target:

I've been looking at them, especially the MTR, but am waiting to finish trials of my Contender Match barrel before I decide. Have a very nice SS 455 with the best CZ trigger I've ever had, as-is, right out of the box, but that one's probably going down the road just to make some room.
What fresh Hell is this?

CCI SV is not the same ammo it was a few years ago, IMO. I have gone to Eley. They have a couple of lines that are similarly priced as CCI SV and seem to be more consistent.

I’m not a big CCI-SV fan but if you just shot one group after shooting another type of ammo your rifle may not be “adjusted” to the difference. When switching ammo I typically have to shoot several groups before my rifle will settle in with that ammo (lubes can play havoc on accuracy until settled in).....,just my two cents worth. I like the 457 so far and really the 455 is the only CZ .22 that I’m not fanatical about - it’s not bad but I like ALL the other variations better.
