I haven't shipped a rifle in a long time. Just got back from the Post Office and it cost me $106.00 to ship a Colt 6920 to North Carolina with $1,200.00 insurance. Priority shipping was $89.99! I even cut the box down as much as I dared to 35" long x15" wide x 8" deep.

Won't be doing that again! Fuggin highway robbery!

Wow, that seems very high. I shipped a small rifle, about 7 pounds about 900 miles, and no insurance. I think it was $35.

I’ve shipped dozens, all in conusa. Can’t recall one over $50. I go usps.

Regular mail from AK on a rifle was about $50 plus insurance the other day in a big box...

But you have an FFL, and only FFL holders can lawfully ship a handgun via USPS.

Details... wink

Besides I read on here all the time about people willing to break the gun shipping laws, so it can't be that bad!

The consequences of getting caught far outweigh any gain in the short term, IMO.

II don't think its ever cost me more than $40 for a Long gun. I don't insure them out of my pocket, buyer pays that if they want it.
As far as shipping a handgun, my FFL will ship them for me via USPS. Even with his fee its far cheaper the Fed Ex or UPS.
