All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Despite surging gun demand they've already said.

Give me a freakin break. A poor choice of barrel twist or a failed caliber introduction, etc etc etc is chicken feed, small irrelevant BS compared to their owners saddling them with a debt payment that way higher than the profit making ability of the company.

The investors were paid well for a time though. Still failing to understand here how these type of things are legal.

This is almost as comical as the local furniture always going out of business.

Rem 700 is a very good rifle in my view. Ditto 1100 and 870 shotguns.
Their big money problems I suspect are legal matters related to a variety of lawsuits.
While the gun industry is booming, the boom is mostly plastic 9MMs, ARs and short barrel shotguns. Those are not really in Rems wheel house.

Uh... the 870 is exactly in their wheelhouse...

Their R51 was introduced poorly...

Yes, Remington's problems are a direct result from the bean counters taking the money and running.

I don’t celebrate the failure of an American firearms icon nor do I understand how any gun manufacturers could go bankrupt during a time when firearm sales are at historic highs.

Poor management, piss poor marketing, cheapening of the product through the use of inferior materials, cutting corners and moronic designs all figure into the failure of one of America’s largest firearms manufacturer.

It’s a pathetic example of American manufacturing where the long term profitability through stability and quality are sacrificed for short term gains and parasitic investment groups. They’ll take their quick money and destroy an American firearms manufacturer in the process. It’s a win-win for those investment groups since they’re often foreign owned anyway, so weakening America and destroying a large American corporation is another victory for the communists. 😡

Good. May they die a slow death. I sold my last 700 about 10 years ago and glad I did. The only thing they made worth a crap in the last 25 year was the 870 and its various form of cheaper models.

I was concerned years ago about the Freedom Group owning so many of the firearms manufacturing companies, as well as many other shooting related companies.

Turns out, my concerns were valid.

Almost like it was a huge push to take control of, and bankrupt American firearm manufacturers.

Quote
History

The Freedom Group came into existance in 2007, when Remington Arms (who would purchase Marlin Firearms in 2008) were bought by Cerberus Capital Management (a private equity firm). The addition of Remington Arms (and its associated groups) to CCM's previous purchase Bushmaster Firearms, April 2006, and later acquisition of DPMS Panther Arms prompted CCM to create the Freedom Group.

2008 onwards had seen a general expansion of the companies under the Freedom Group banner following investment in them from CCM. As mentioned earlier, Remington Arms purchased Marlin Firearms in January 2008 while Remington's subsidiary company, Remington Military, obtained silencer producer Advanced Armament Corporation. This added to Bushmaster's purchase (following pressure from CCM) of Cobb Manufacturing (a producer of large calibre tactical rifles) in April 2007, bringing more companies under the Freedom Group banner.

The full list includes:

Advanced Armament Corporation
Barnes Bullets
Bushmaster Firearms International
Dakota Arms
DPMS Panther Arms
H&R Firearms
Marlin Firearms
Mountain Khakis
Para USA
Parker Gunmakers
Remington Arms
Remington LE
Remington Military
Remington PMPD
TAPCO

Seems a lot of those companies on that list aren't with us any more.
