The last couple weeks I haven't been able to find Coors Beer in cans. Coors light has been plentiful. About a week ago there was a Beer guy stocking the shelves and I asked him if he had any Banquet in the back. He said no and that there was a shortage of it everywhere. Then I read about an aluminum shortage that that has caused breweries to halt or slow down production of some of their lesser popular beers so they could use the aluminum for their more popular beers. Today I was in a Martins grocery store and they had a sign saying "Due to an Aluminum shortage caused by the covid, they apologize, they may be out of certain can products."

Anyone else run into this? Maybe a good time to take my aluminum cans in. If there is a shortage, prices should be up.

Not seeing any shortage of popular or off brand soda pop in aluminum cans in any stores I've been in.

I've got a good start on a volleyball sized wad of aluminium foil. Should I take it to the recycle center now, or wait for the market to rise a bit more?

Dr. Fauxci is mandating handmade aluminum hats as part of Phase 4 Coronavirus prevention strategy on August 15.

It was on CNN... 20 minutes ago.

Well I'll probably fine out this next week. I've 3 big bags taking up too much space in my garage. You are probably right right about the prices being low. That is always my luck. Oh well frown

Huh.
Who would have thought this farce would Cause Americans to drink more beer out of aluminium cans than would be covered by Boeing shuttering production of aircraft.

That is a whole lot of beer cans!

If the prices are low like wabigoon says, I'd kick around the yard a little longer.

cans are 30 cents a pound here. hardly worth taking in. i just keep bagging them waiting for it to hit at least 45. i have a couple hundred pounds probably at this point. i am "the can guy" that people give cans to. i have a few friends who drink a schit ton of canned beer.

Well, I may have to unravel it. I might need to wear the Fauci hat if it comes to that, and I'll be danged if I'm going to wear brand new out of the box Reynolds wrap.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is my mantra.

This is the first I've heard of it if it's true. I save rifle, pistol, & rimfire brass for scrap. But not aluminum. Checked prices on iscrapapp.com which gives average national prices, IIRC. Aluminum cans are at .24 cents/lb.. Aluminum radiators .20 cents/lb. Sheet aluminum .19 cents/lb. & aluminum siding .19 cents/lb.. That's current pricing though and I don't know if it's been going up or down recently. Brass shells, the stuff I save, is at .95 cents/lb., up from .84 cents / lb. June 30th. Still gonna wait until I get more and the price is somewhere over .90 cents before I scrap 'em.

No kidding?

I'd of thought they'd have gone to plastic like cheap vodka.

Bottles are always better, for drinking. Cans are better for the garbage man. I'm retired, my garbage man probably makes more money a month than I do. It's his job to hoist 2 cases of empties into that truck every week.
