I had a similar experience in Dental Specialist School at Fort Sam Houston in 1982. I was 19 and cracked jokes about everything without considering the consequences.

During a lecture on dental hygiene and cavities, I raised my hand and asked "Does oral sex really cause cavities?" I deadpanned the question without a hint that I was just making a joke.
Our instructor was a bald man probably close to 50. The class rolled on the floor laughing and the instructor's face and scalp turned beat red. I'm surprised I wasn't disciplined for that.
At least, though, I waited until the female officer teacher was out of the room.

Quit the carbs and lose the fat, loose the high blood pressure, and tell the doctor with Statins to get lost.

Everything you say is good advice, but hypertension is not something to mess with. I was in my mid thirties and the doc would tell me my BP is borderline. I was an AVID year round and all weather runner and hiker. I started taking my own blood pressure and found I had cycles. Later afternoon in the winter were my worst numbers. Of course everyone should listen to their doctors, but also we need to take hypertension very seriously. It can be very silent and doing damage when you don't know it.

Let me do you a service here: if a doctor has to tell you there is a problem, there isn't a problem. What is considered "healthy" blood pressure keeps changing. "High" blood pressure is not a disease, nor is it a symptom, nor is it a cause of disease. I encourage you to do some reading, and not to trust your doctor. He has no "skin in the game" in regard to you or your health or your life or your well-being. He gets huge benefits from drug companies to prescribe their drugs, and he will happily see you regularly to "monitor" you after "diagnosing" you.
