He's 22.

Seems like that is a fast track to Sergeant. I wouldn't know

Proud of the kid though, he's been a go getter from day 1.

He's on Trumps Marine 1 team.

Not necessarily...some MOS's advance faster than others and being on some types of "special duty".... DI, embassy, Marine 1, etc., helps also. I enlisted at 18 into a critically short MOS and picked up E5 before my 21st birthday.

Tell him Congrats! and Semper Fi!

The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.

The special duties don’t really help promotion like they used to until they start getting FITREPs...

An E-5 (Sergeant) in the Marine Corps is a big deal. Actually, Sergeants and Captains are the two most important ranks to the Marine Corps. They are in charge of the stuff that matters.

that scrawny kid that left in 2016 is a mean looking son of a gun now.

I remember at their high school graduation they asked all the students going into the military to stand up and everyone in the audience gave them a standing ovation. They didn't do that for the honor graduates.

Probably not many schools left that would still do that.
