Nice lookin' pup. Better hide your slippers. Back when I was 15 or so my neighbor was a huge duck hunter. Anyway when I decided to get my own dog a few years later... a chocolate lab, my neighbor gave me the "Water Dog" book.
It was a very good book for me. Others may have their favorites. Great training book! Got a used hardback Water Dog book way back in the late 70's and have used his training techniques on several dogs over the years. I still have the book somewhere around here. I can recognize it on the bookshelf because the cover is all chewed up from a past "Water Dog" trainee.

Great idea to get the pup while the older dog is still around. Makes training about 75% easier IME.

Great idea to get the pup while the older dog is still around. Makes training about 75% easier IME. I completely agree. It's hard to overstate how much a seasoned dog will help bring a pup along quickly.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Lab pups are the best. We have 2 labs, one yellow One chocolate both are grand champion couch dogs..

We have 2 labs currently. Black one is 13+ and almost crippled but still kicking. The yellow girl is 8+ and dying from end stage renal failure. That is a heartbreak for both of us since she is relatively young and has been very healthy until recently. I’m sure we will lose both soon. 😞
