Only ever had one. It was a Savage111 I took in a trade. Plain Jane as could be but lights out accurate. I didn't keep it around because it was nothing special but I often miss it. It's funny how that is sometimes.

Love the 25 cals. My own is a 25/303 Epps Newton improved. This cartridge is a modification of 3 others combined.
It gives a 100grain Barnes ttsx 3,670 fps and
a 117grain SST or 115grain nosler combined technology silver tip 3,360 fps. Both group 0.80 inches at 200 yards. Shoots flat and kills as far away as I'm comfortable. 400 yards max so far.
Sighted 2 inches high at 100 yards less than 2 inches low at 300 and depending onprojectile less than 10 inches low at 400 yards.
To me the 25s RULE

My first choice would be a Kimber Montana or Mountain Ascent with a Leupold 3.5-10X in Talleys.

Second would probably be a Remington 700 Sendero with a 6.5-20X Leupold with the VH crosshairs.

Different applications of course.

I've owned 5, I think. First was a Ruger 77 Mk II which had a really short throat. It shot the 75 grain Sierra HP really well but any longer bullet wanted to fuse primers into the bolt face. I had a Ruger #1B. I had a stainless Sendero. I had a Ruger 77 VT ... laminated stock, gray metal finish. I can't think of what the other was .. maybe I only had 4.

Just traded in to an Encore pro hunter barrel that was cut back to 22" prior to me getting it. Bought a few different lower end ammo in various bullet weights to get an idea what it likes. Hoping to come up with either an Accubond or Partition load for it. I have been a devout .35 caliber guy for a while, figured I'd get a few "smaller" calibers. Got to have some variety in life.

I’m in process of determining if I want to build one out of a Kimber Mountain Ascent, or just go straight to 257 Roy as that cartridge has always intrigued me and is said to kill even better than the 25-06 lightening bolt. Ammo has to be factory as I have a hard time finding time to reload or else I would split the difference and go 25-06 AI.

Currently I have an early Forbes in 25-06 that shoots lights out, but the stocks on the Montana/Mountain Ascent just fits me like a glove.

Decisions decisions....

Chumley Hunts.
My two favorite calibers 25 and 35 can't go wrong with either.
Love the ability, speed and range of the 25 and the sheer thump on game that a properly loaded Whelen gives. A 35 CAL 250 grain Speer hotcore at 2,700 out of a Whelen puts a lot of hurt on game

Barrel is going to be 26" with a 1:7 twist. Should be here in November.

Can't wait, 131 gr BJ Ace bullets at 3100-3200 fps

That is a beautiful thing!!!
The wood has me a bit confused! It could be one of several things and it is obvious the light was changed on it for the photos. I love having to scratch my head!

The first two pictures scream bastogne/paradox walnut... and the fore end pictures hint at screwbean. I cannot get enough resolution on my screen to even make a good guess. Really good looking, regardless my confusion!
