I like Moon for money and 42 for fun. Never cared for straight dominos much, too slow for me.

Anyone else play.

I used to frequent an old snooker hall as a teenager. We played snooker till wee hours of the morning many weekends. There was a card table in the back room where a bunch of old men would be gambling, playing dominoes or “moon” and slamming those dominoes down on that table..sounded like a .22 going off! I will never forget the yelling, cussing and domino slamming from those grumpy old men.

I guess it’s fading into obscurity. I know a few people that play. We play once a month with another couple we know.

Used to play with my grandpa.
Probably worth looking up how to play.
I don't recall a thing offhand.

Learned to play moon and 42 in the dorms at TX Tech. Lot of fun.

Wouldn’t take you long to pick it up again.

As many elderly people as there are on here, I’m surprised there isn’t a lot of 42 players.

Dad, Uncle, Granddad, all played dominoes. I got to play, when there was an odd number of players.

F-i-L family, all play 42. F-i-L got me for a partner, at his family reunion, 3 years ago. Don't have clue how many times we have played, at 3 reunions, but we haven't been beaten.

Read an article in the newspaper about 20 years ago by an author who wondered where the game 42 got started. Said he contacted domino societies on the west and east coasts and they had never heard of the game. He contacted people in other states and got the same answer. His conclusion was he narrowed it down to Texas as it was unknown in most other states. I was told by a coonass who I used to play moon with that moon came out of Louisiana.

Back in the 70s and early 80s my first wife and I would play 42 about once a month at my uncle's house. He had a lot of friends that were seniors then who would come to his house and play. There would be four card tables of people and we would rotate people. It was a lot of fun after we caught on. It didn't take very long for those senior players to kick my butt.
