I made the 400 mile drive from Omaha to Ames, IA, and back yesterday. I didn't see any crop damage along I-80, north of Des Moines along I-35 you couldn't miss it. I saw a lot of blown down corn, quite a bit of tree damage near the ISU campus in Ames, a couple of semi-trailers blown over, and several road signs along I-35 either broken off or bent over horizontal. I've never heard of a Derecho wind storm before. Today the local news is reporting the 1 Billion bushel of corn has been damaged and may not survive to maturity or be able to be harvested.
