Something like that would work out here. I could get over to Ashland and back on a charge. Reno too, if I have the need to go there.
Electricity from our co-op is the cheapest in the State too. And plenty of sun I could probably get some panels just for the vehicle.
Sorta did the speed reading thing on the article. Did I miss the pricetag or did they not list one.

900 volts? You won't top off that tank in your garage with a home charger. That limits your range to 250 miles since you need enough soup to get you back to the nearest charge station. How long does it take to do a charge from nearly depleted?

Cost for base model is $60,000 before a $7,500 government tax credit. Top end models just over $100,000.
Zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds, top speed of over 200mph supposedly. Though that will reduce your cruising range.
It's also been teased as being released since 2018. So don't sell your F150 yet.

EV technology seems to be advancing rapidly. This car will be well into the 6 figures so the market will be confined wealthy virtue signalers. Hopefully, the technology will trickle down to something affordable and practical for the masses.

I’m not anti electric car. I’m just unwilling to give up much in the way of convenience to get one. So, this is starting to get there. Things like price, reliability, charging time and all that matter, but 500 miles is a good start in the right direction.
So, let’s see where we are with this in ten years.

Step up transformer, old school, easy peasy. There being no free lunch, longer charge times will be in order.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

My diesel F350 can go 1875 miles between fill ups. Call me when electric pickups can do that.

Electric cars are great, until they need a new battery in 5 or 6 years that costs 6 or 7 grand.

Sounds like Elon Musk's Lee Iaccoca moment. “People want range, and they’ll pay anything to get it”? I don’t have clue if this thing is good, bad or indifferent, but Musk is following the Bezos mantra “get big, first”. Tesla has an awful lot of momentum for a company, like Amazon 10 years ago, and it’s going to take more than a handful of cars with a little more range to affect that momentum. I find it very interesting there is sooo much investment money chasing all these bit players hoping for a little slice of the pie. I drove my last Tacoma 100,000 miles with a depreciation less than a nickel a mile. I’m not the target market for 100K “look at me” cars....but I do like to see what is coming down the pike.
