Kinda thinking a forrest green base on the buttstock and forearm.
Maybe some type of leave and vegetation over spray with brown and black color
Maybe a matte black cerrakote job on the metal overall.

Kinda thinking a forrest green stock set and matte black cerracoat would be GTG.
Or even a good flat black wheeler ceramacoat job on the metal
leave the NWTF Coin the same.

Stock set is too lite colored in my thinking.

Picked up the beast from slumlord for 200 bucks before turkey season and stuck my choke , sights, and pad on it.
Added 15 16 oz of fishing sinkers and wally world bags in the buttstock for balance and some recoil reduction.
Can afford to spend 125 to 150 on it after deer season with the ceracoat job.
Even less with the wheeler ceramacoat job.

Thoughts from any of you guys who have done a similar project like I'm thinking of doing????

From the collector standpoint, I'd leave the original Slumlord patina on it! laugh

^^This
Krylon camo colors, easy on, easy touch up, easy off if you want a change.
Shoot 3 or 4 coats of matte clear coat over it and it's very durable.

Here's my attempt from a few years ago. Krylon Fusion did the trick:

I had an old mossberg 500A that had the light green stocks and a matte finish that would be almost what you wanted to do. You could find take off stuff out there.

Do some range time and see if you like the gun before you put too much work into it.

Mine was a good single shot shotgun, but I could never get it to extract shells reliably so down the road it went.

Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

Sounds like the right side pump action bar angle notch and shell retainer bar notch angle were off.

Common problem in the mossberg pump shotguns.

Easy fix actually.

Nothing wrong with the gun and components on it.
Know it well.
Just needs a appearance freshen up.
Slumlord bought it used long ago for 2 benjamins.
Thats what I gave him for it.
Made him take it .
He was wanting to give it too me for free.
We are best friends
But guns are guns in my eye.
He knows how I think.

The previous owner before him had some type of fugging elvis ring on his right hand and did that marking up of the receiver on the right side.
Only thing I can figure from it...
Fugging moron...........

I didnt want schuck out big bens for a new one.
Slumlord is done turkey hunting due to being a transplant patient and complications associated with that from immuno suppressant
Meds he is on and tick issue,s from all that combo.
Last time he turkey hunted was 2017 IIRC.
I polished out and burnished the barrel and forcing cone for him in it probably 6 or 7 yrs ago.
Told him to put a strut stopper extreme .670 in it.
He ran a low powered scope with turkey reticle on it.

Ran 3.5 LB,s #6
Was getting 260 in 10" at 40yds with it.

Put my stuff on it like all others

# 7 3.5 hevi 13,s
270,s low 280,s with a rhino. 670

I'm gonna run some of the combo 7 and 9 or 8 and 9 TSS thru it this spring.
See what it throws.
I like high pellet counts.

Have run 835,s for a long time.
Use em as trade bait alot .
Keep the choke, pad and sights to set up a new or used one.
Keep this one for good.
Been also looking at used black syn sets on web sites.
Like you said about used take off stuff.

Gonna be a after deer season project
Got plenty of time to mull it over.

Killed 3 toms with it this spring.

The stock is just too lite colored to my liking.

If this Mossy was actually held and hunted by Slumlord, it belongs in the NRA museum IMHO! American Pickers or Pawn Stars be knocking on your door offering big bucks if they find out about it. πŸ’°

Ren...we just do a base coat of two colors and take some of that plastic leaf/fern decorations you get at hobby lobby or micheals, hold it over and shoot the 3rd color around it.
