For those of you that do not subscribe to the Single Shot Exchange Magazine, I just posted the article at the link below. The article was published in the August edition.

The same result can be achieved by holding a loading block filled with charged cases against the through bolt of a vibrator case tumbler. As with the author I've tried it both ways, drop tube and tumbler and there's no difference. But, old habits die hard and I still use my drop tube and my ancient Belding & Mull powder measure.

LOL, I remain in the drop tube camp plus, its great exercise, standing and filling each case when desired amount of powder is weighed out.

Found this as well, but was reluctant to post about it.

Pour the powder charge in the case, set the wad on top, use the compression die/expander to set it to the desired depth, seat bullet...

the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

I do it with smokeless, when I have a charge that will seriously compact otherwise. Works well. The only time I put charged cases in a loading block without a bullet is when I need to settle the powder a bit before seating a bullet. I've seen seriously reduced ES by using that method. I'm sure it would do the same with the negro stuff. If I was loading 45-70 or 444 lever guns with the black, that's exactly what I'd do.
