Is it just me, or had the Postal service gone totally useless.
Out of the last fifteen packages I've sent, two arrived on time.
Of course the whipping boy is covid19.
One member here has a package that I've sent that is in Shreveport since July 28th. That's the worst of them.
My 45-70 encore has been in Des Moines since the 8th of August.
Don't bother trying to call. Their automated system will NOT direct you to any human being. If you email, they forward it to your local postmaster.
Now UPS and FedEx seem to be either corona, or idiot proof.
Theirs have all been one time. I don't use them for the stock painting as they are more expensive and I'm trying to hold cost to a minimum. Besides, USPS pick up for free.
It may be time to change.......

Just sent a standard #10 envelope inside a priority mail window envelope, going from Boise, ID to Lodi, CA. Mailed at the post office window on Monday afternoon with an expected delivery date of Friday, 8/21. Four days to go 586 miles. That's a bit ridiculous when I've sent large packages by priority mail from Boise to upstate NY in 2 days.

I recently ordered an item from Ohio that took two weeks to arrive. Then twice I've sent items to Ohio by first class mail that arrived in just three days.

Can't think of an explanation, but overall my personal experience with the postal service has been pretty good. Remember, the volume of mail they handle is enormous by any standard.

The problem with the USPS is the retirement freebies.

The private sector learned many moons ago.......is it NOT sustainable.

I sent a small package from IA to UT on Friday the 7th and it arrived on Monday the 10th.

I can't do any better than that.

This election is absolutely NO justification for the bailout of the stupidity of the postal union.

Sorry!

I got a Christmas card in the mail today..August 18, 2020. Postmark on the envelope is December 9, 2018. 21 months to deliver a Christmas card?

And the democrats want me to trust the postal service to deliver my ballot on time and in a usable condition?

Just more govt.

There's that pesky Postal Clause in the U.S. Constitution...

Article I, Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution gives gov't the postal powers.

Have we ever seen gov't be efficient at anything, but tax collection? whistle

My prescription med was shipped on Jul 22.. still on the way.

No excuse for it!

The problem is US Postal service and it's hiring practice. Peek inside the Post Office, employees too damn stupid to move or deliver mail.

If there are no issues, why do they need a $10,000,000,000 bailout every year?

That's 10 billion. A billion is a thousand million.

5-7 billion in 'retirement' costs!

My opinion of the post office has declined in the past few months. I shipped a product to a customer May 22 and after 3 weeks it had not gotten there so I sent him everything all over again and filed a claim to collect my insurance money. The contents were insured for $500.00. The actual invoice was $496.00. They denied it saying
I did not offer proof of the value. I sent the paid invoice. Still got denied. Then the boxed showed up on July 28th. I had to pay to get it sent back to me from the customer. My total shipping charges was $66.00. $44.00 of that was because of their mistake. I lost that money along with about 3 hours of my time. It's going to be a fiasco for them to handle ballots.

The problem with the Post Office.........Congress made it into a separate entity that was supposed to operate with no government money, YET mandated that USPS could make no major decisions without Congressional approval. In other words, blame Congress for the mess USPS is in. Also, the hiring practices forced upon them by the government has also had a lot to do with the problems..............giving preferential hiring practices to minorities and veterans............the biggest freeloaders on the planet.

The Post Office was founded to deliver mail.......letters, magazines, catalogs, newspapers almost exclusively, and the occasional package. Today, the mail volume has fell to it's lowest level ever, and the package business has increased probably a hundredfold. Their facilities are not set up to handle this package business, and that business is growing, while mail continues to decline. They have also been saddled with a number of inept Postmaster Generals, given the job as a result of their politics, rather than their knowledge of the business. It's a wonder they can even continue to operate.
