Has anyone here tried pro2000 in the 8x57? I hear of great results in the 308 Win and 338 Federal so thinking it might be a good fit for the 8mm Mauser. I mostly shoot 160-200 gr bullets in mine.

No help to your question, but considering my 50 year affair with the 8x57...in the weights you mention, I keep going back to good old BL-C2 and it's newer twin CFE .223. Ball C-2 was for many years the darling of the benchrest crowd when the .308 dominated. I also load my 8x57's (Czech BRNO and FN) pretty stout by American standards, but still getting long brass life and tight primer pockets.
Most burn charts put PP2000 right between RL15 and Varget...the best choices for the .308. But you ain't shooting a .308, 8x57 bore area/loaded case volume/designed operating pressure ratio is different. CFE .223 falls a little slower on the list, somewhere between 4320 and H380.
If you go ahead with PP2000 I sure would be interested in hearing about your results.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I've not been able to better IMR or H 4895 in the 8 X 57. flintlocke, love what you said about American 8 X 57 loads. Anemic is the word that comes to mind.

Works great in a 7mm-08 with up to 150gr bullets. Should work. Also RL17 would be great.

I might try some of your RL15 loads with 200gr Partitions. I have some 220gr Woodleigh bullets to try too.

Got to thinking with those heavy bullets RL26 would probably work. Also RL23 if you can get enough in the case

I think you can as I have a 257 Roberts and it has the same volume. Another powder would be Norma MRP.

H 4895 has been my go-to powder for many years in the 8x57. The one I shoot most is an 8x57 Ackley that has a very bad attitude when it comes to putting down deer and elk. I just built a 8mm on the 7mm Mashburn Super case on a pre 64 M 70 but then had to have major shoulder reconstruction so can't shoot it. Anyone else ever play with that wildcat? If so, any load data?
