I was recently sold an old set of RCBS dies marked 350 Brown. I was looking for the 35 Brown-whelen but the shop a said these dies were the same, just a different name but got them home, ran a case through them and aren't even close anybody on here over heard of such an animal? Shop refused to take them back. Shoulder is much farther forward than the Brown Whelen and a lot narrower, about .435 on shoulder. Thanks for the insight.
Still looking for the Brown-Whelen dies.

Yup, and this wouldn't be the last time I'd share that story.

You might get lucky and find a used die set marked .35 Brown Whelen that will work, but the best bet is to have a die set made based on the dimensions of cases fired in your rifle.

I remember seeing the 35 Brown-Whelen from the in the P.O. Ackley books, always thought it was a good looking cartridge. I think it would be a simple (may have watch the shoulder resizing brass) wildcat to get started with, whether reboring an 06 chamber gun or screwing on a new barrel. With some of the new beltless rounds that have come out, I don't believe anyone has touched 35 cal, so we still have the old standbys, 35 rem, 35 Win, 350 mag, 35 Whelen and 358 Norma. Have fun with the Brown-Whelen and report back.

Unless you want it just for "nostalgic" reasons, go with the 35 Sherman! smile

The process for the Brown -Whelen brass is involved and a pain. Better off with the 35 Whelen Improved/AKA 35 Whelen Ackley Imp.

My plain old Whelen killed/kills well enough on heavy game with heavy bullets that I gave up the notion of chasing speed with the 35 caliber. Anything over 2500fps was just gravy and added recoil. YMMV
