mine's broke- well one of them. Original POS aluminum pot metal . Second time!

Do later model trigger guards fit the Old Model? I see Jack First has an after-market steel for the OM -kinda spendy at $70 - I see Mk IIs on ebay for about $50. I'm going to go steel if I can. Enough already! $70 will damned near double my cost of the rifle originally. Not that I'm chea...."economically minded" or anything. smile

Too late to call Ruger for info before Monday.

Meanwhile, I guess I'll swap it out with the.338 until I get more info. ... Wife wants to use Stub ('06) for moose hunting, since it's been cut down for her.

I don’t think they interchange, I have a steel one off a Tang Safety 458 on my Whelen. I’d be skeptical of the aftermarket one too. The last TL Moyer steel floor plate I ordered for a tanger was an absolute piece of garbage. The scallops on the rear ended were so far from matching it was hilarious and the whole thing was a good 3/16” short. Endeavoring to persevere I TIG welded it up enough to reshape and make the scallops match but it was a job. A guy without the tools, know how, and a bluing setup wouldn’t have had a chance.

Pacific Tool and Gauge has the trigger guard and floor plate for $99.00. I used one last year and am 100% happy with it. The PT&G units are steel. They are indeed for the tang safety model.

Can you link to this? I only saw magazine options. Help would be much appreciated.

Added: IGNORE THIS! Naturally right after I asked, I found it! How well did it drop in?

It fit into the stock perfectly, I only had to polish a little bit off the tab on the floorplate that engages the catch.

It seems that my memory tells me right before I got out of the gun business Brownells was carrying an aftermarket replacement guard that was pretty skookum. It was AL but well made and drop in.
