The selfish/stubborn anti-mask population are the people crying the most to "re-open", yet their inability to grasp the most basic concepts of virology are exactly what allows the spread to continue and re-opening to be prolonged.

Its been a long time but I dont even think the filter canisters in a m17 or m21 promask gave ya much if any protection agsinst a Bio wpn like C19 and the canisters were only good for 8 or 12 hours against nerve agents .

It is odd that I am still safe, though I hope I just didn't jinx myself.
I work in San Francisco and especially among the homeless therein. My young partner has lobbied unsuccessfully to have me declared nonessential due to may age (over 60) and my health ( obese and just crippled) yet my three-snaps-and-a-circle station commander gives me more work to do. So I have been in and out of the homeless camps as wells as other crimes scenes or calls for service. What I don't get is why aren't the homeless, who's health has got to be challenged by their day-to-day conditions and lifestyles, why aren't they dropping like flies?
They are, but due to overdoses and stabbings, and the occasional nodding off to their heroin fix while climbing through the dumpsters scrounging for recyclables and thus getting compacted by the garbage trucks and dumped at the transfer station.

It is too soon to tell, and it will not be easy to track the true impact. But rest assured there will continue to be a lot of spread. It cannot be refuted that hundreds of thousands of people packing into bars and then returning back to wherever they are from or travelling to other locales is a public health nightmare.

An infected person wearing a mask coughs or sneezes. Assume the entire viral load is caught by the mask. The person takes off the mask, wads it up and stuffs it in their pocket. Then they go to a store and put it back on before they enter. They grab the door knob using the hand they wadded up the mask with and used to put it back on. Then you grab the door knob.
Tell me a gain how that mask prevents spread? Because that scenario happens a lot more than having someone sneeze in your face.
