At one shop there is a Kahles 4x12x50 siting there.. $750.

Another shop a Kimber 84M Hunter, .308, about $600.

Man I'd love to put them together and make a real dandy deer rifle (and expensive!)

Sounds nice.

Now,don't let'em get away and be writing regrets...

Sales have been slow on those kinda items, market is soft.

Drop a pile of cash on the counter for what you're willing to pay and see what they do...

Now the load... I have a Remington Varmeter (pawn shop find) with 26 inch barrel. I added a Swarovski 4x12x50 (yea I like expensive scopes.. Cost me $600, came with original box and paperwork. Not a mark on the scope) that I also found at a pawn shop!

Replaced the stock with a Magpul stock (yes.. pawns shop find for $100, including 5 round mag kit.)

I first cleaned the barrel with Sweets 7.62 and Hoppe's 9 till I had a pile of used patches. Did this to get the copper out of the barrel.

Used Varget, 45.5 grains, and Speer 150 grain Hotcore soft points. ONE INCH GROUPS... 200 YARDS!!

Plugged this hog you see with it well past 300 yards last year (angled shot.. you hole you see is the exit.)

And that would be my load for this Kimber!

That's easy, grab your targets, headphones, staple gun, spotting scope and tell Wife you're going to the range, but leave with an "Empty" rifle case, go on to the range and sight in your new rig, then bring it home and put it in the safe right in front of her, 'they' never notice............all good! ; ]

Damn, what kind of pawn shops have Swaro and Kahles scopes on the shelf? Around here they are all full of rusty 30-30s with $800 price tags on them, and Simmons scopes with $250 price tags.

Gunner, I like the way you think!

I always wonder how higher end stuff like that finds its way into a pawn shop.

Probably collateral from loans that didn't get paid. In a local hock shop here a while back there was an interesting Rem 700 375 H&H that was one of those old left handed CRF conversions. I don't remember the details of the conversion exactly but anyway it had a beautiful piece if wood on it and an S&B scope.

It was on the shelf for awhile and after it sold I was talking to the guy about it and he said it was a loan default orginally but the same guy scratched the money together a few months later and bought it back. In fact the guy said that wasn't unheard of, he's seen that on occasion with other high end stuff and one clown had actually lost and rebought the same rifle several times!

It's easier to ask for forgiveness than beg for permission... grin

Funny, after 49 years of marriage all gun sales on my part have to be approved by my wife!

Which one are you selling? It's not the pretty one is it? on and on........It's all good. cool
