All: The prices are starting to get really insane again. Unless you are in the market for a drill and tapped 99EG in 300, prices are insane. 7mm-08s are rare, and this one is nice, but $2926 is out of my league. Too heavy and clunky for me. When you take a 99 and put the Monte Carlo cheek on it, and the big fat forend, its as big and clunky as a bolt-action rifle, and to me its lost what makes it special. That said, I would like an EG in 7mm-08. Were any ever made that way?

All it takes are a couple obsessed bidders and you’re off to the races. My money is too special to me to spend on a 99 in that price range. Or probably any 99 or other gun. Hope the new owner has no buyers remorse.

Don’t know the age group of this new generation but I‘d venture a guess that damn few were yet born when Savage largely put the 99 to rest in the 80s. So most post mils, to them, are rather ancient. And frankly there’s probably more nicer post mils to be had than earlier guns so this just might be a function of opportunity.

When I see a re-list without any mention of why? and the high bidder does not receive negative feedback, I believe it is a bid up by a friend to pull higher bids out of the top bidders. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
