I doubt if the cleaning did it in.

I have an inexpensive Mr Coffee. I’ve cleaned it a couple of times with vinegar and had no issues. Next time I will just throw it out and go by a new one. Less than $20

2 or 3 times a week I add a table spoon of apple cider vinegar to my coffee water. No taste, keeps me and my coffee maker clean.

Yeah, DONT do this^^^. CLR is toxic as hell and you need to use some serious gloves to keep it off your skin. Fail to do so and it will soak through your skin to underlying tissues and kill it, requiring amputation. Seen the treatment at the hospital to save dude's fingers. Dude was lucky in that he only agonized for the 12 hours of treatment and retained his fingers.

I suspect that if you get some on your insides, you won;t do so well, either. And the treatment used on fingers is impossible on your innards.

Again, DO NOT USE CLR IN YOUR COFFEE MAKER.

Last I checked, walmart has $10-$15 coffee makers. Or join the club and use a french press.

I bought a Mr Coffee in 2001 and decided to clean it with vinegar a couple of years ago because the coffee pot was almost black. The coffee pot was still black after I cleaned it and it quit working a few days later. I bought a new Mr Coffee (without a timer) at the grocery store for $14 dollars and I will never clean it with vinegar.

I'm on my 5th one. Bunn makes good coffee, but the damned things always start leaking right after the warranty runs out. They won't sell replacement seals, and I can't match up anything at the hardware store to fix them.

Do you have Corona? I can't imagine you couldn't taste vinegar in your coffee.

Same /same.

OP's might have gotten jammed-up with scale coming loose.

If I don't sluice with vinegar every couple months the mineral scale brings production to a halt.

I'm surprised that nobody has suggested setting the offending coffeemaker downrange and sending a 6.5 Creedmoor bullet whizzing by so that the thunderous shock waves from heaven itself will shake loose the calcium and render it into nothingness.

I'll bet anything that it was vinegar that had 10% ethanol added! (Either that or you were using FRAM coffee filters.)

Problem is obvious. You used aftermarket vinegar instead of OEM vinegar. 😃

Vinegar is a weak acid and is already mostly water.

Run a couple cups of straight vinegar through, turning machine off halfway through cycle. Wait 30 minutes.

Then run two pots of water through to remove vinegar taste. Done.
