Out dove hunting this morning, saw Wiley moving thru the mesquite one time. 20-30 minutes later, a line of cows was headed into the tank to drink. Wiley was tailing them. Furry little dummy wasnt too concerned that he was walking downwind into the area I had been banging away at doves. He came out about 30 yards in front of me. I was shucking that 870 keeping the lead going his direction. It took 3 shots of 7/8 oz of #8's, and he still ran about 50 yards after the last shot before he went down.

Guess the buzzards gotta eat too.

You oughta always have a couple or three high base #2s on hand. They'll do the job right quick.

Last coyote I killed was with my Marlin 1894 .41 Magnum and a hand loaded 210 grs. Sierra JHP. That did the trick too!

Rocky tells me that coyotes are so nasty that the buzzards won't eat them.

I wasn't aware of that. Been a few years since I killed a coyote, but I didn't check on him the next day. Just put his lights out.

mother nature will clean him up in no time. Hell, I've shot nasty stinkin' mange covered coyotes and left em lay and later find them nearly completely cleaned up..maybe find a few bones.

That will work. Until this, there were firemen who would say 8s wouldnt do tbe job at 30. One shot would have got it done but it would have just run further.

4s will do it to probably 80 yards.

Couple of years ago cousin was tired of running the deer out of the peas behind his house late at night. There was a real dandy of a velvet buck he had seen comming through and he has promised the two grandsons they could get it. One had missed it the fall before after getting the shakes.

One night the dogs cranked up in the yard and he fired a load of 6s at those he could see at about 75-80 yards.
Picking tomatoes two days later he saw the buzzards circling down by the pond. Unlucky shot.
