For likely 90 percent of users petzl is the nuts.
Simple enough to use Durable enough to last Versatile enough to be handy
And they're not too spendy

The last few years Sams club has a 2 pack of 300 lumen lights.
Uses 3 aaa each. Comes with Duracell.
Start off @$20.
By clearance tine can get them for $9-14.
Aaa batteries are the kicker.
Cr123 are expensive Used to get em bulk for $1 each. It sure what they are now.

I use Zebralight. I also have Petzl and Black Diamond, Zebralight kicks their butt in every aspect.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

I really like the Fenix brand. Lots of models to choose from. Battery life has been very good.

Want it for Walking to stands in the dark, looking for lost deer or pigs. Not a headlamp, but a 20 volt Dewalt led lights work excellent for trailing - tracking at night. You'll give out before the battery.
Life is good live it while you can.

I like one with red light option.

I've done away with my head lamps. I wear Panther Vision Power Caps. The lights are built in the brim. You don't need a separate headlamp and uses Cr32 batteries. I still carry a 6" Maglight in my pocket for extra lighting in case I need to track something. I have 3 of these. https://www.panthervision.com/product-category/powercap/?pa_use=hunting-fishing
