I have a older (early 1990's) .410 Mossberg 500. I've had it since I was younger, I doubt it has had a box of shells fired through it. It is light and handy so I decided I wanted to take it out this year for early season squirrel for something different. I ran it through some patterning with about a half-dozen different loads, and it patterns great; the patterns are very even and should be quite effective out to 25 yards or so.
Problem is, it patterns about a foot high. I thought about replacing the front "pearl" bead with a TRUGLO Fiber optic or something similar, thinking it may be a little higher, and lower the pattern. Are the TRUGLO's a little higher than a factory bead?
Anyone know the thread pattern on the rib for the bead on the Mossberg 500 .410?

A larger diameter bead will help lower point of impact. How much depends upon how the gun fits you. Beads are inexpensive, so it's probably worth a shot (no pun intended).
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.

A shim cut from a credit card can be placed between stock and action at the 12 o'clock position. Using a laser bore sighter makes it easy. Or shoot it. Shims can moved/added to bring the comb to where you need it. A little epoxy will fill out the "bedding" nicely.
