I am getting another 22 Hornet. The last one I had I never reloaded for it. This time I plan to reload for it. Which brand of reloading dies have you all tried and liked for the old hornet?

I normally don't like most Lee stuff, it seems to be built cheap to sell at a certain price point. But the die set that I use the most for my .22 Hornets is the Lee. I really like the results when using their collet neck size die on the Hornet's thin brass. And many Hornet rifles have oversized chamber dimensions, neck sizing really helps accuracy and case life. The bullet seater seems to work well too. The factory crimp die may or may not help accuracy in your rifle.

Agree. I opened mine to K-Hornet, which IMO is an improvement for several reasons.

And the Lee Collet neck sizer works with the K version.

Good round. I’m out of town. When I get back to my computer, I will post a link to a lot of Hornet info and data.

I also have the Redding, and they are excellent dies. I'd also grab a Lee collet sizer if the neck die of the Redding wasn't so slick. I just dip the necks in graphite, run through, and move on.

Year's ago I shot a friends Hornet a lot. We shot cast bullet's and it was a blast but for one problem reloading. Shoulder is sloped and we had trouble getting many reloads without the case splitting. I wouldn't mind having one today but first thing I'd do is convert it to a K Hornet. Better yet, I had a 222 Rem years ago and would take it any day over a Hornet. You can do pretty much everything you do with the Hornet and for accuracy, my 222 Rem blew away the friend's Hornet. Great thing about both of them is you can shoot and watch the bullet hit through the scope even with jacketed bullet's.

I’ve sold mine off but really like the 45 grain bullets for the .218 bee. Very destructive

For you guys using Redding, are using the bushing full length/neck sizing, or body die combinations?

Lee Neck Collet die is a lot cheaper and IME, does about as well as the high priced spread...

Nothing against Redding, I have my share and do like them. They are top of the line dies, no doubt.

But when cheaper is as good, IMO, it's actually mo better....

Or said another way, it's mo buzz for the buck...

Or just get a .223 Rem. and load it with Blue Dot and you will have 22 Hornet performance and its a lot easer to get .223 brass.

Yeah, everyone should own a 22 K Hornet.

What he said. Along with a case full of Lil Gun, a CCI Small Rifle Mag primer, and a 40 grain polymer tipped bullet will likely get you 3K fps and great accuracy.

Thanks. It seems to be well received.

I just swapped out the scope on my 22 K Hornet. There was a 3-10 Bushnell 3200 on it, but that migrated over to the Grendel. The K Hornet has an older, 80s vintage 4x33 Leupold on it now.

Yes, I do. It is a departure from my usual. It was inspired by this forum, COVID 19, and my family.

It's called 24 Hr Campfryer. If you go to the Canada forum and find the thread of the same name, you can read the table of contents. Mwmbers here have bought them, and the reviews are all positive.

You can also go to my site for a look as well.
