Thinking of a Beanland build in 6.5 for longer range. What specs would you recommend. I dont want it to cumbersome where it will only be used at range. Want dual purpose for hunting and long range. I hunt mostly forest and mountain range so I prefer shorter barrels 18" to 22" Weight no more than 10lbs. Any suggestions on stock design and twist rate ect.

1200 yards range. Hunting is 500 yards max....usually under 200 yards.

6.5x55, 260, 6.5CM, 6.5-06, 6.5-280, 6.5x300Win, 6.5PRC, 6.5GAP, 6.5Sherman, 6.5-300WBY, throw an AI version in of any of them and have at it.

And there are plenty more.

I tried that and thought it might be a good idea. Never again! a Hunting rifle is just that, a long range target rig is just that. But I pack my rifle hunting all day and don't shoot from elevated forts. smile Beanland will certainly build you a great rifle.

Going to do a 6.5 creedmoor build. Mcmillan Tactical Hunter Stock, Bighorn Origin Action, Bartlein 3b at 22 inches, triggertech trigger. Any suggestions on twist rate and scope.

Sounds like a wicked build. 7 to a 8 twist should handle just about all of the Bullets out there now. I’d just pick the twist for whatever Bullet you plan to use.

Nice. Same load I use in my Tikka. One of them boring loads that just does exactly what it’s told everytime.

3b is a awefully heavy contour, a 2b in 6.5 is going to be plenty stiff with plenty of weight, you may want to rethink your weight with a 3b!
