They are Greyhounds, Stag hounds mixed. Maybe some Russian Wolf hounds. The Grey Hounds were mostly used for their speed and called the "catch hounds" the big jug-headed ones were the kill hounds. They all ruffed the dead or mortally wounded Coyote up quite a bit and then lost interest and wandered off. You had to witness the chase and kill or you might lose a $50.00 Coyote.
This was back in the 70's and there were several guys around town that hunted that way. It was fun but then the fur prices dropped off and I no longer hear of anybody hunting that way!

I have to ask, but are those squirrels? Whatever they are, they would probably be tender! Deep fried, maybe?

We don't have many Squirrels here!

I thought they were, but now Slumlord has me second guessing. Chupacabres are prevalent in the north part of the state, especially around the TN border. Maybe they are migrating south???

That's funny. Now we didn't have to pack it around by hand. We were in an old International Scout that couldn't keep up with the action so we had to head for the highest hill hoping to see the chase and the catch . There were times we would just wait for the dogs to come back to the vehicle for water. If they were bloody, we would go looking for a dead coyote. The dogs only had one mission in life and that was to kill anything that ran away from them. They were hell on Badgers and they would chase Antelope if you couldn't stop them.
I have a friend from North Dakota that hunted with them also! There it was flat and usually easier------but not as much fun!
