As an aside, I don’t understand why so many on here seem to want to deride the 6.5 Creedmoor. Success usually breeds contempt. Some people have to publicly proclaim they are above the need for such foolishness as something, allegedly, better than that which they have chosen. Add to that the hooplah and people just become jaded. If you articulate disdain and failure to see "the need", then you can display your bona fides and that you are one of those who is simply better than anybody who needs the "latest and greatest" (ex. 6.5 Creedmoor) or to follow the crowd (ex. 270 Win). Just watch almost any thread involving caliber debates. Any objective analysis can be provided without deriding someone else's preference; but, what fun is there (for many) in that, unless they can demean someone else's choice. The more short answer is twofold, in my opinion. One is defending one's prior and alternate choices as having been sound. The other is showing that you are above it all and are so good, you don't need something else (machismo?). All cartridges along the entire cartridge spectrum are more alike the one above them and the one below them than they are different from them.

270 and 6.5 hate is real. We need to come up with something similar to TDS but for the 2 calibers mentioned above. A while back I coined CBHS.

I had Weatherby Vanguard ( granddaughter took it away from me), it will shoot 3/4 groups with 120 Barnes TTSX bullets. I have two Savages now. Both shoot as well as the Vanguard. Maybe they shoot so well, because they have so little recoil. Recoil affects shooters more than they realize in my opinion.

Creedmoor Butt Hurt Syndrome I've seen a number of cases around here. 6.5 Swede fanciers seem particularly susceptible, as are those who believe a 30-06 shooting 180's is on the light side for deer.

put it this way > if you can`t get your 6.5 Creedmoor to shoot well easy, you probably can`t shoot any rifle well ? very simple cartridge that shoots extremely well .

Had a .260 Rem Tikka before the Creed Craze. It shot a bit worse than I expected for all the hype they got. Modified the magazine and bolt stop to help the long bullets to get to the lands.
But now it shoots, and I'm not switching.
The Creed geometry likely fixes this right out of the gate.

I had to do the same thing with the magazine on my Tikka .260.
Usually the Creedmoor does work better right out of the gate.

I believe that's one cause of CBHS.

Having a good Swede as the safe mate to your Creed helps with CBHS....
Swedes are more finicky, but when you do find that magic load, they'll hold their own with about any 6.5.

Remember, I did not say if you have or like the Swede then you have CBHS.

Remember, I did not say if you have or like the Swede then you have CBHS. Well, I just don't have a .260, but I do have a 6.5-284 and a 26 Nos.... So, I must have missed that diagnosis by a country mile... DF

DF,
Yep! I have a top-notch 6.5x55, built with a special PT&G reamer and a Lilja barrel. If I play with the right bullets and powders, it will shoot some loads about as well as the average Ruger American 6.5 Creedmoor will shoot its favorite kinds of factory ammo.

Let's consider reamer specs close to cartridge dimensions and bullet diameter, and precisely assembled rifles as givens.
I believe there's still room for one cartridge, in and of itself, to be more precise than another. Otherwise why doesn't the 222 Remington still rule the short range benchrest roost?

If there was no such thing as inherent accuracy, something besides the 6PPC would be winning short range benchrest. John

What are the best powders for the 6.5 Creedmoor?
Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

What are the best powders for the 6.5 Creedmoor?
Okie John The same burn rate that works well in the 30-06. So for light bullets, medium-fast, like Varget, and for heavy bullets, something around 4350 to 4831.

There seems to be a turd in every batch. A relative just told of his Bergara 6.5 Creed that shot 3.5" groups. Very disappointed. It is the first I have heard of being that bad.
